About Us

The Market Rasen Choral Society encourages singers from Market Rasen and surrounding areas to come and enjoy making music with us.

We are open to all ages and abilities and there are no auditions. Singing and making music with others is an uplifting experience – so come and give it a try.

We perform 2-3 concerts every year. Our Spring concert sometimes involves instrumentalists or an orchestra and professional soloists. At Christmas in addition to our own concert we join the Rotary Club for their popular town Christmas Carol Concert. We also take part in joint events with local schools, including the fantastic ‘Zimbe’! and recently performed a moving Remembrance concert which included readings by Ian Hogg and participation by the local air cadets.

Our concerts are filled with a challenging mix of music styles. We enjoy a varied repertoire from major choral works such as Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Faure’s Requiem to more modern and contemporary music such as Zimbe!, Rutter’s The Spring of Thyme and Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man.  Please take a look at our ‘Previous Concerts’ page for details of our past concerts.

In the summer months we form a Carry on Chorus choir when we sing a programme of lighter songs based around a theme. For 2019 our songs were on the theme of ‘Water’ and included songs such as Bridge over Troubled Water, Deep River and Orinoco Flow! We particularly welcome new singers to this group so please come along if you would like to join in. Dates and details will be posted on the website later in the Spring.

We rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm at Market Rasen New Life Centre in Serpentine Street, Market Rasen. Our rehearsals are led by our enthusiastic Music Director, Emma Radwell, and are lighthearted and fun. All new voices are very welcome. Our new term begins on 28th January 2020.
